The World of Equinox

Welcome to Ashra, a world composed of song and dance, mist and dreams. It is a place of excitement and danger; where arguments are often decided on the point of a sword or the edge of an axe, where unclean monsters roam the woods looking for easy prey, and where a peasant can be exalted to a Knight through one act of bravery.

It is a place of mystery; where crumbling ruins hold secrets from the Elder Days, Gods and Goddesses meddle in the lives of mankind, and where those things that go bump in the night are not just fairy tales told to frighten children.

Ashra is also a place of magic; where dark mages mutter incantations in hidden rooms, where Priests heal seemingly incurable ailments, where the dead arise to live again, and where witches meet in grand sabots in lonely woods.

A world of intrigue awaits you, where power-mad Dukes wage bloody wars over the dying remains of a crumbling Empire, assaulted by foes on all sides and traitors within. Dare you take your place among the lists of heroes…or villains?

Cross the Sentry River and enter the dim thickets and ruins of the Forest of Alluria. Follow along a long forgotten track where an ancient trade route meanders into the Northlands. Here, at the foot of the Herne's Shroud Mountains, you will find us - battered refugees from a once great Empire, hoping to build a new home amid the ruins far from marauding warlords and fanatical priests. Among these ruins of a once-great city, now long lost in history, we seek to rebuild our lives in the shadow of the Red Fallows to the south and the great Peak of Illusions to the west. The forest is full of bloodthirsty creatures and in the gloom of the night strange shadows walk the Barrows. Distantly, you can hear voices raised in chant… a prayer to some forgotten god? Or is it some sacrificial rite to raise a Demon? Only you can determine which…. Come and choose your fate!

What Equinox Is

Equinox is a Live Action Role Playing Game that is produced by Aeternalis, LLC. This Game is takes place in a medieval setting. Instead of rolling dice or clicking a mouse, you become your character. Every blow is a blow that you have swung, every spell is a spell that you have aimed, every weapon strike that lands on you; you feel. You become your character. For one weekend a month, this game takes place. Out in the Woods, a medieval town is born so that you may become your fantasy. Using Equinox's structure of rules, a person may become an Elven practitioner of Magic, or perhaps a Mercenary that sells his skills to the highest bidder. The choice is yours. While there are no winners or losers, there is the satisfaction of causing havoc for the local nobility or the exploration of lost Ruins, or perhaps you will foil the plot to rob the local bank. The more that you play, the more skillful your character will become. Perhaps, even one day, you will be a Master at your trade, that is if you survive long enough.

Costs to Play

An Equinox weekend starts at 9:00 PM sharp on Friday night and ends Sunday morning. The weekends are broken down into 2 periods: Friday night to Saturday 3:00 PM, and Saturday 3:00 PM to Sunday morning. For each period that a person plays as their player character (PC) they will receive 1 Build.

Any minor under the age of 18 but over the age of 16 needs both game approval as well as a signed parental permission slip to play. A minor's application for membership will be looked at on a case-by-case basis.

2007 New Rule: FREE NPC!!! That's right, if you do a Full time NPC, the event is now Free. For other benefits of NPCing Full Time see the "Service Points" section of the rulebook. Every player has the option of a 1-time purchase of 10 build upon character creation. This build may be purchased anytime after character creation. The cost for this is $100.00.

Payments by Cash, Visa, Master Card and American Express are accepted. No personal checks will be accepted. Equinox reserves the right to deny any application for membership for any reason.

The applications for membership can be downloaded from the Rules and Forms section of this website. Every player must complete the appropriate application before they may enter the World of Equinox.

Rules Changes

Here are a list of updated changes that you should check out.

  • Necromantic summoning has been clarified. You can now be at "Death's Door" (See "Dying & Death") and then have the summoning be done. This stops the death count. When the summoning is over the death count continues.
  • Shiv can be done from the front (T-shirt strike)
  • The rule for waylay is now continuous. See Rogue list.
  • There is a general section in Arcane called "Summoning" to put the general rules of summoning in one place.
  • In the Summoning section, there is an update rule for when a summon reaches zero body.
  • Updated Stone Golem and Earth Elemental to state Crushing damage
  • Bog man updated to clarify its exception to memory rule.
  • Added some more description to Poisons
  • Updated the Arcane Overview somewhat.
  • Updated the Faith Overview based on the Arcane Overview and added Excommunication rules..
  • Added Harbinger Lost lore "Cure Pain"
  • Added Sentinel Lost lore "Nodonn's Balm"
  • Updated the Service Point section
  • MANY LISTS:
    Components have changed! Many have been removed and some changed. Check your lists!
  • Witch list changes. Description of Witches Candle. Ritual Time for witches reduces. Default now 5 minutes.
  • Bloodknight list changes. Important: Changed Verbal! Clarified spell verbals. Added flavor text. Clarified some rules.
  • Updated Sentinel list; Flavor text, Rites of the Moon, and Create Holy Water
